Fog in many places. 1923 Fog in central England and Southern Scotland but fine elsewhere. 1924 Wet and very windy. 1929 Fine in the North but cloudy in the South. 1931 Unsettled in Scotland and Northern Ireland but fine elsewhere. 1935 Unsettled with strong winds in the West and South-West. 1945 Clear and fair. 1950 Sunny and mild until evening then heavy rain. 1951 Light fog and frost in the morning but clearing and remaining generally fair. 1955 Generally fine and sunny but with some showers in the evening. 1959 A dry autumn day. 1964 Rain over much of the country. 1966 Mild day with only a trace of rain anywhere except in the North of Scotland. 1970 Fine everywhere. 1974(F) Some rain in all parts of the country but especially in the South West. 1974(0) Cloudy with showers in some parts but few instances of heavy rain. 1979 Fair.
