ABSTRACT
An initial reading of Type, Name, Gestalt reveals that Junger maintains here the same thoughts as in The Worker. Junger also notices here a decline of the type in the century of the worker, "that both assume the hastening and dynamization of life, and is its result as well". But contrary to The Worker, Junger is not univocally positive about this phase of nihilism and its destruction of the categories of the Animal Rationale in his later work. The worker trusts that the earth will respond and give rise to the gestalt. In The Worker, the word "type" primarily concerns a new race of man—the worker type—which finds its determination in the representation of the gestalt of the worker. The worker type relates to the unity of the human being in the epoch of the worker.
