ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author lights an animated character. As opposed to working with a human character, the author will apply the lighting to a fox. A fox shares many of the same facial features as a human and can be lit with many of the techniques. Other unique mammalian features, such as large ears and a four-legged stance, will present new challenges. The fox model was created by Daniel Moos and is licensed via Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International. In addition to possessing an animated character, the scene includes an animated camera. This requires that the resulting lighting appear attractive from multiple points-of-view. The lighting is complete in the scene. Because this scene features an animated sequence, the author can take additional steps beyond this point: quality settings, add motion blur, render the animation and change the resolution.
