ABSTRACT

Organizational change is increasingly being introduced via projects. However, although different disciplines feed into the management of effective organizational change, industry seems to view it as largely the domain of project/programme managers. The business environment is changing at an unprecedented rate, driven by the exponential growth in information and technology. Project and Change Partnership methodology provides more visibility and structure of Change Management activities and work packages than any of the major Project Management methodologies. The Project Management Institute approach does make provision for a dedicated Change Management workstream, but not for a dedicated Change Manager/Director at either project or portfolio level. However, although different disciplines feed into the management of effective organizational change, industry seems to view it as largely the domain of project/programme managers. Looking across to daily operations, there was no Organizational Development team and efforts to build adaptability in the face of change consisted of sporadic Change Management training for individuals and teams only.
