ABSTRACT

Words, shapes, and images work together to visualize and communicate information. This chapter examines how motion can be useful in communicating data. An infographic is an image that creatively combines statistical data with graphics and text. The data is sorted, arranged, and presented visually. Infographics provide a means to take data and communicate it visually for a viewer to interpret the content and understand it. Designers can reproduce any data into visual road maps of information. The chapter enables one to: discuss the different types of data visualization; animate a pie chart using a transition effect; create Shape Layers to animate a vertical bar chart; and use parenting in After Effects to animate multiple layers together. It also enables one to: add code-driven expressions to simplify complex animation; track motion in digital video; and apply tracked data to animate another layer.
