ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at FCP's multicam editing features, creating the multicam clip, using the Angle Editor, and working in the Angle Viewer to edit a project. It also looks at applying effects and working with Audio Configurations, and using expanded and detached audio. Multicam editing was one of the first major objectives Apple worked on after the original release of FCPX, introducing it in version 10.0.3 just six months after the original release. The multicam function includes automatic synchronization based on audio or selected parameters like timecode. Angle Assembly determines how clips will be put together in the multicam clip-camera angle, first, then camera name, using the information assigned in the Inspector, or from the camera metadata. The Clip Skimmer is very useful in the Angle Editor and is automatically turned on for skimming all angles aside from the video monitoring angle.
