ABSTRACT

By the winter of 1946 John Petts was back in Britain where he was placed for a brief duration in the London Command School of Education at Queens Gate, teaching subjects ranging from literacy to design to a variety of people released from the forces in preparation for their return to civilian life. The divorce came through on 17 March 1947, leaving him free to marry Kusha. In London in the summer of 1947 Petts called into their office in Museum Street to show Ronald Eames, the firm's production manager, specimens of his work. It was an opportunistic move which resulted in a further commission. The Caseg Press continued to advertise its more distinguished patrons on a now extended list which included members of the titled nobility and a number of eminent professors. The division of labour at Llanystumdwy was more pronounced than it had been at Llanllechid where Brenda equalled John as artist.
