ABSTRACT

This chapter describes that the concepts of discourse and practice are used extensively in the development of the overall argument, it is imperative that a careful analysis of each is given some attention. A useful study of disagreement within discourse, in the most general case, has been initiated by Crispin Wright especially through his use of the concept of Cognitive Command. One significant similarity between the reflections on rule-following and the points made about the notion of Cognitive Command is that both accounts give a central role to the possible difference in the way protagonists react. The notion of Cognitive Command was brought in to elaborate on this attribute of discourses. One which is more related to cognitive holism is the notion of discourse. One which is more related to social holism, is the notion of practice.
