ABSTRACT

This methodology discussion appears before the review of the associated literature as a means of helping to sort the high volume of scholarship that presently comprises writings about organisational cultures in the English speaking world (as well as elsewhere). Through identification of the means of analysis, some theorising, for example, is selected in and other work (including theorising) is selected out. After all, as Schattschneider (1960) observed: ‘Organisation is the mobilization of bias’. As a result of adopting an interpretativist position, considerable work in the field of methodology was brought sharply into focus, and of course a deal was sidelined.
