ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to use tables to demonstrate how terrorism has occurred in different regions of the world. Countries in each region are allocated to their WS status based on WS locations noted in Table 4. The tables included in this section of the book shall consist of information on the countries where terrorism occurred, number of incidents, periphery, semiperiphery and core targets, and tactics used by the international terrorists. These tables will help to illustrate the regional distribution of international terrorist activity for 1987 and the WS positions of the countries mostly affected and targeted. Where possible, the 1986 record of international terrorism incidents based on Gardela and Hoffman (1987) study will be employed for comparison purposes.
