ABSTRACT

We have now, finally, worked our way in to the very core of the national self-images. What, then, would be the best way to begin to address issues pertaining to the internal dimension of national self-images among Russian politicians? There are several conceivable opening gambits, but for many reasons it is natural to start with the name of the state itself. As if to illustrate how blurred the distinction between inside and outside at times can be, there is a significant overlap here with the external/internal subdimension.
