ABSTRACT
Given the sheer amount of information contained in the chapters of this book, it would not be fruitful-or even possible-to attempt a detailed summary. Rather, this chapter attempts to pull out some key themes which have emerged in the course of the book. I don’t pretend that this effort is neutral or unbiased; my aim is to bring out the issues more clearly for the purpose of stimulating discussion and debate.
