ABSTRACT

The evolutionary struggle for survival has produced a fascinating phenomenon such as the distinction between appearance and reality, between what something looks like and what it actually is. It can be found all over nature, likely camouflage. In the evolutionary arms race, the development of camouflage undoubtedly went hand-in-hand with the development of a magnificent remedy against it: cognition. Nature has created human consciousness as the jewel in the crown of evolution. Science makes the world transparent. It clearly shows us the essence of the universe, which is then visible for everyone. One can compare their rationality to the extraordinarily clever and sensible attempts by ancient Greek astronomers to correctly describe the movements of the celestial bodies, while they were unaware that they had in fact started from the wrong assumption, namely the mistaken idea that the earth was the unchanging centre of the universe. Their rationality, like others, is a question of internal coherence.
