ABSTRACT
This study set out to investigate the relationship between the EU and the Maghreb countries from its inception to the present time. Its main emphasis has been on the apparent effect the Union's policy, in its different stages and corresponding instruments, has had on the Maghreb countries. The effect in question has been examined in relation to the objectives the policy intended to achieve.
