ABSTRACT
The general picture of declining wages in the urban formal sector raises the issue of the rural-urban wage gap, which has figured so prominently in the discussion of urban labor markets in Africa. Does this decline imply that the large wage gap in favor of the urban formal sector tended to shrink and disappear after the wage inflation of the sixties?
