ABSTRACT

Part V is meant to give a comparative account of employment and earnings in African manufacturing, based on the cross-section data available from the RPED surveys of firms and of a sample of workers employed by them. The data set allows us to use the characteristics of the workers along with the characteristics of the firms employed by them in our analysis of the determinants of the structure of employment and earnings. The survey design and methodology are discussed in the Appendix to this Part.
