ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book addresses the means by which binary opposition can be understood and bridged. On a broader level the essence of this question is fundamental, as many aspects of modernity appear entrapped within dichotomy. Within the book a theoretical structure is presented as a means of sublimation between the "us" and "them" dichotomy. A region such as Bosnia, based upon such religious and cultural diversity, was unquestionably vulnerable to explosive nationalism. The Bosnian elections were held in November of 1990 and manifested the degree of ethno-national awareness in the region. It is time to re-set the agenda of International Relations in both a theoretical and practical sense. The emphasis IR has placed upon "building blocks" such as state sovereignty, nationalism and power has limited the structural equations that may be configured.
