ABSTRACT
Disability policies seek to increase the welfare of the disabled population by promoting economic self-sufficiency and social integration. Some countries have a large number of people that receive disability income transfers and low employment rates among disabled people. Other countries spend less on disability benefits, and focus on the types of interventions that enable individuals to remain at work, return to work, or enter the workforce for the first time, despite having chronic health conditions or impairments.
