ABSTRACT
In this chapter we will give a detailed presentation of the Norwegian welfare state, with emphasis on the social security system and the disability pension system in particular. Both the changes in the system in earlier years and possible changes in years to come will be discussed. Our presentation is based on official regulations, governmental documents and research re-
