ABSTRACT

Political assassination is the shortest way to attain a political goal. Sometimes this quite expeditious method fells modest victims, hardly known to the general public; mostly, however, it is applied to powerful and prominent personalities-heads of government or of State, in any case people who play a major political role in their countries. It is to these cases that I shall refer in this paper, in an attempt to offer some kind of typology of political assassination according to regimes, in a historical perspective.
