ABSTRACT
In chapter one we developed our view of the process of housing development. The next step in our study is to determine how to study this process. That is the subject of the present chapter. We explain the choice of the format for the investigation, and the research methods. To that aim, the nature of the study subject, the design of the study, the wish to carry it out from a cross-national perspective, and the type and scope of conclusions that we want to draw are addressed. In other words: how has this study been carried out, and why?
