ABSTRACT

The Statistics Canada report indicates: Presumably these immigrants will pass the high value they place on education on to their children. The Canadian educational hierarchy is shown in, which is repeated here for convenience from this chapter. As a society we agree that universities and the education they provide are desirable things. What we will expect to see now is that those high school age students from the nearby hamlets those that only have elementary schools will be bussed to the larger village for their secondary education. As the Canada United States border gets more open, given our free trade agreements with our neighbours, one wonders to what extent this should have an impact on post-secondary education. However, in spite of this expectation, it would appear that the cost of post-secondary education in the United States is enough of a deterrent to curtail the flow of students' southward.
