ABSTRACT

MacMahon line or the eastern part of the dividing line from Bhutan to Burma (now Myanmar). The boundary with China included a large piece of territory known as the Aksai Chin projecting out to the east. In spite of the Sino-Indian armed conflict, there were short but renewed talks (27 December 1962-16 May 1963) between Pakistan's new Foreign Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Sardar Swaran Singh in Rawalpindi, New Delhi, Karachi and Calcutta. The Indian Government greatly resented Pakistan's Border Agreement with China (2 March 1963). It looked to New Delhi that Pakistan had given away a small portion of Kashmir to a third party in order to gain its support in the overall issue.
