ABSTRACT

Faridabad is one of the three major industrial centres of Haryana, Rewari and Gurgaon being the other two. Along with industrial development, Faridabad has also made exceptionally good progress in agricultural sector and lies at the heart of the Green Revolution belt of India. Kadhaoli is among the 81 villages in Ballabgarh Block, Faridabad District and is situated near the Ballabgarh and the Faridabad Industrial Areas. In a traditional community of Muslims in Kadhaoli, non-existence of a school for girl children is deemed a greater problem than non-existence of a school for male children. Agriculture remains at the heart of the livelihood system in Kadhaoli, and a fairly large section of the population has more than one source of livelihood. With such a livelihood system, there can be no prize for guessing right how people in Kadhaoli view agriculture: the perception of the impact of agriculture on their life is very positive.
