ABSTRACT

An organization approaching a business for program support should consider the interaction a business proposition as much as a philanthropic gesture. There are three major categories of program support that may be acquire, namely cash, in-kind donations and volunteer resources. All disaster preparedness campaign endeavors require adequate financial, human, and other resource support. If possible, fundraising potential can be measured by assessing previous community support for other efforts or organizations. The following is a generalized listing of the different sources and means by and through which funding is raised are individual donors, business and corporate donors, foundations and other grant-making agencies, local, state, county, and federal government grants, religious organizations, civic organizations/civic clubs, fee generation and partnerships. There are four different categories of foundations, each of which includes members of all sizes and missions. They include community, public, family, and private.
