ABSTRACT

For a researcher like me, often at the beginning of the scientific career, certain decisive questions might arise which influence the course of the whole later scientific life:

Shall I deal with only few samples (more or less important) and, at the same time, many methods in order to get a possible consistent image of the underlying physics but take the risk to publish not so many papers?

Shall I deal with many samples and a standard method to become a specialist in the application of the method and shoot out one publication after the other?

Shall I deal with a lot of samples and a lot of methods (being well skilled in all of them) and also publish a lot of papers?
