ABSTRACT

Without exaggeration, it may be stated that the present book represents my life’s work. As already mentioned in a preceding chapter, I have not been eager to collect many experimental details in the hope to find a common thread: I wanted to “see the rainbow” in the waterdrop—therefore I mainly confined myself to the waterdrop “fayalite”, examined it quite thoroughly by applying different methods and—hoping not to boost too much—found the rainbow. This should not be understood as “the” rainbow, but as another nice “stone at the beach of the Ocean of the scientific Truth” like Isaac Newton has formulated it so aptly.
