ABSTRACT. It has been reported that the incidence of serial mur der has increased by approximately 400% in the past 15 years (Leyton, 1986). Yet, in spite of the amount of attention in the popular press that the serial murderer commands, clinicians are limited in both the psychological definition of serial murder, and the clinical understanding of such individuals.
