Procurement can embrace the purchasing or hiring of goods or services, to satisfy a defined requirement that might include quality, quantity, availability and price, usually with the aim of achieving best value for money. In projects and programmes, you might need some form of procurement to obtain:

products or services to facilitate execution of the project or programme – for example, contract/agency staff, or perhaps temporary office space to accommodate team members

products or services that will be an outcome of the project or programme – for example, an installed software package, or perhaps a new building for an expanding or relocating business.
