ABSTRACT

It seems at least to me to be a political dilemma that we often accept in the political debate a pseudo-ethical discourse in which we speak of the ethical task ‘to weigh up risks and benefits’. In most of the cases, the question of what a risk is, and what a benefit is, is a question of ethical reflection on criteria. And, therefore, this discourse is pseudo-ethical as long as the questions regarding the criteria and their foundation is not involved.
