ABSTRACT

Portrait and figure sculptor in stone, plaster, bronze and wood. He was born in Garlenick, Cornwall, and lived for many years in Edinburgh, He studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1905-10) and the British School at Rome (1910-11). He exhibited at the RA (1911-56), RSA (1912-74), Glasgow Institute (1913-61), Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, and RBA. He was President of the SSA (1942-5). Public pieces include an equestrian statue of Robert the Bruce at Bannockburn, and work at Paisley Abbey and the chapel of Stowe School.
