ABSTRACT

The concept of human rights expressed in contemporary international law flows from many cultural horizons. Nevertheless, it is true that the European philosophical and institutional trends of the last three centuries have had a significant impact on the progressive development of this concept. Furthermore, since the end of the First World War, several important mechanisms for the international protection of human rights have been established and tested to a large extent within Europe.
