ABSTRACT

Despite their recent renewal, development theories are still having great difficulty analysing the evolutions in the South and suggesting development crisis alternatives. Of course, the renewal of the development theories has allowed us to grasp the instability and the complexity of recent evolutions in underdeveloped economies. The traditional deterministic vision is currently in crisis due to its inability to grasp fluctuations, which are becoming increasingly strong and irregular. But at the same time, on the ruins of traditional science, there is a movement of reconstruction and metamorphosis that leads to the emergence of a new scientific paradigm able to grasp the complexity of natural and social phenomena. By taking account of these aspects, we can also discover the complexity of historical time in the post-colonies and its diverse nature, which cannot be reduced to a peaceful, linear flow of historical laws.
