ABSTRACT

The Norwegian part of the survey is somewhat special. Firstly, with a total of 32 companies, the sample size is relatively small. One reason for the low number of respondents was probably that a number of big surveys had been carried out during the years of 1994/95, and many companies appeared to be suffering from ‘survey-bumout’. Secondly, most respondents had participated more or less actively in a number of productivity programmes managed by The Norwegian Research Council. Thus, there is reason to believe that the respondents had good knowledge about theory and practice within quality and productivity improvement.
