ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to show how we can identify where e-HR could be of most benefit to our business. This is a very important thing to do, as it can be very easy to listen to the 21 st century version of the snake oil salesperson and invest in an e-HR system that does not provide us with the returns that we expected. The chapter looks at the general terms at the function of HR within any business and looks at how these HR-related processes can be improved by the introduction of an e-HR system. E-HR systems can provide tools that make it much easier to collect, store and make available information about skills and knowledge available within the organisation. This can allow departments to make quicker and better-informed decisions about new ventures. An e-HR-based approach to recruitment offers potential for adding value to the recruitment process.
