ABSTRACT
To go beyond the enlightenment conception of the self as an individuated consciousness with certain capacities, including reason, judgement and perception, it is necessary to return to Kant and reconstruct a theory with a critique parallel to the transcendental syntheses of apperception as it applies to the transcendental unity of the self.
