ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an application of that methodology to the existing situation in Morocco, and further discussion of the method's structure and operation. The Kingdom of Morocco is the westernmost of the three North African countries known to the Arabs as Jezirat al Maghreb or "Island of the West." It has an extensive coastline on both the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. According to World Bank studies on Morocco s economy, integration into the international market will not only promote rural well being, but also will provide important opportunities to raise incomes and welfare. Water-resource problems in Morocco receive considerable attention from the Moroccan government, international lending agencies and water-resources experts. Morocco both exports and imports agricultural goods, and it is generally clear that trade considerations, including trade barriers erected by countries importing from Morocco, constrain the nations agricultural sector.
