ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the emerging regulatory landscape for the Internet of Things (IoT) and highlights three specific areas of regulations—the EU General Data Protection Regulation, net neutrality and blockchain—that can impact this emerging technology and the design of its use. An IoT privacy-alignment strategy is explained in this chapter to enable IoT businesses to comply with the data-privacy needs of users and regulations.
The boxed section ‘Five Questions to the Global Leader’ introduces us to Dr. Luca Belli, senior researcher at the Center for Technology and Society, FGV Brazil, and the founder and co-chair of the Dynamic Coalition on Network Neutrality, United Nations Internet Governance Forum.
