ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces our Transformative Journalism Model and explains the processes used in its development. It explains the four applications of our model and presents a short summary of three key approaches to news media analysis in order to highlight how our model provides a new methodological and analytical approach to news content. The model is used in chapters 88 to 12 to provide examples of how our model has been used to analyse specific examples of mainstream Western news media coverage of Islam and Muslims.
