ABSTRACT

Happiness is an emotion rarely, if ever, included in treatment manuals. This is despite the fact that the majority of people presenting for treatment would consider an increase in happiness an important treatment goal. This chapter focuses on happiness, what happiness is, and its function. It then outlines the happiness wheel, a tool to help support adolescents and young adults to increase their levels of happiness. While this chapter is separate from the others in the book, it is not expected that the happiness wheel would be used alone, but rather to sustain and continue improvements gained from using other traps in this book. The interventions included in this chapter therefore overlap significantly with the other interventions in this book.
