ABSTRACT

Though, one of the major contribution of this book is a major discourse on the phenomenon of ethnocide, this study also posed unique theoretical and methodological issues related with anthropological fieldwork. Issues such as scientific approach and issues of neutrality and objectivity. In a situation of highly polarised social interests, any intervention, whether fieldwork for data collection or humanitarian intervention become value loaded. In such overwhelming situation, the question arises whether the field worker has to take sides. The only objective decision he/she can make is the degree of subjectivity and partiality.
