ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on political change and development in Bangladesh by chronologically highlighting the main political developments in Pakistan since independence from Britain in 1947. It examines the role, strategy and governance of the civilian, military, and caretaker governments in the country and the trend towards démocratisation and democratic consolidation during their rule.
