ABSTRACT
In 1975, at the conclusion of a series of proceedings started two years before with a lawsuit brought by the local section of the NAACP, the Supreme Court of New Jersey issued a decision1 on Mount Laurel Township, an affluent suburb in Burlington County, near the Philadelphia metropolitan area, declaring its zoning ordinance unconstitutional.
