ABSTRACT

Project success is vital, especially with the gaps in practice. This chapter explains the gaps, and discusses the different perspectives related to success and explains the Customizable and Adaptable Methodology for Managing Projects (CAMMP) approach. It covers the four dimensions of project success. The team can evaluate the first two dimensions during the project life cycle, before project closure. However, the organization cannot evaluate the last two dimensions until after SG9. The project life cycle includes the three phases of a project—discovery, development, and delivery. This time span falls under the responsibility of the project sponsor and the project manager. During the authorization of the project, project and executive management should define and agree on the criteria to determine project success. It is common that some organizations ignore establishing success criteria, do not perform a proper definition of success, or do not communicate it to the project team.
