ABSTRACT

CAMMP™ uses the terms customizable and adaptable as a two-step tailoring approach. Many organizations in the capital projects industry follow a project life cycle approach for managing projects. These organizations—at least some of them—have customized methods for their capital projects. Customization includes modifying all of its components, such as processes, forms, templates, criteria for stage gates, criteria for project success, and numerous other elements of the organizational system. Another leading practice is to adopt and customize the model and to use it on one or two pilot projects to capture learning, make modifications, and then roll the enhanced model out across the organization. The customizable and adaptable approach is there for organizations to consider. They can implement the standard model to the various situations and classes of projects in their organizations after systematically establishing alternative models.
