ABSTRACT

The Cross River National Park is located in Cross River State, southeast Nigeria (Figure 4.1). The Park, named after the Cross River (which also lends its name to the State), covers an area of approximately 4,000km2. It consists of two divisions: Oban in the south and Okwangwo in the north (Figure 4.1). The Oban Division was named after the Oban Hills, which dominate the topography of the area. With an area of approximately 3,000km2, the Oban Division was carved out of the Oban Group Forest Reserve.
