ABSTRACT
This chapter aims to see how the extra knowledge derived will enhance a sense of cultural and familial identity and hope for the future. Trust in the past is believed to aid moving into the future. This extends to hope for the European enterprise. Cultural identity can be transmitted through cultural or family narratives. This involves the transmission of stories about a culture, or a key event in a culture, which becomes a defining feature that leads to a particular type of story and solidarity in the group. It often involves a retelling of recent history from the group's point of view and may entail narratives around journeys, survival, resilience or maybe victimisation. Archived material was mainly discovered by author's cousin Piotr in Warsaw, who undertook his own family investigation and travelled to the places where the family originated, including those now outside Poland.
