ABSTRACT
This chapter reflects on the history and legislation surrounding the British curriculum that has impacted on education in the Early Years.
Legislation in Britain should ensure that all its members, especially the most vulnerable and youngest members, are safe. This means safe from harm, abuse, discrimination and extremism. British values emphasise this through clearly defined values that are inherent in practice. The Prevent duty guidance is a response to keep vulnerable children safe from extremis and exploitation.
