ABSTRACT
In some transport undertakings the title ‘general manager’ is used to indicate rank, rather than the sort of management the bearer practises. For example, in some management structures the heads of main divisions below a managing director are called directors, and the directors’ seconds-in-command are called general managers. Then we find managers reporting to general managers.
