ABSTRACT

A few months ago, I received a copy of Anne Lamott’s sixty-first birthday post at a “working women’s” spirituality group sponsored by my church. The post was printed out on 8½ x11-inch paper and I was so moved by Lamott’s deeply honest and naked description of the human condition that I copied and mailed it to my mother. Little did I know that the post had gone viral and by the time of this writing (May, 2016), Lamott’s post from April 8, 2015 had earned 87,000 Likes, 76,000 Shares and 11,000 Comments. Now that’s engagement. Her post has reached millions of people. Lamott’s post is powerful because of both her incredible wisdom:

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”
